Of course, it still needs to be washed and pressed and mounted and framed, but hooray, the stitching is done! The metallic around the wands is a little hard to see in the photos, but it looks nice in person.

And a blast from the past... My Kids and I did ceramic painting back in early October, but I never posted the fired and glazed versions, so here they are!

I usually do a personal challenge for the weeks of November and December, but not this year. However, I am still plugging away on projects.

I got a bunch of work done on the Mystery Stitchalong.

I worked on this piece yesterday Nov 17; I'm working on a section that uses a DMC Light Effects thread, which is a PitA to work with, and I put in and frogged the same six stitches three times before I found some tips on how to work with this damn stuff, and finally got about a dozen stitches in. However, by then it was dark, and it's a light colored thread on white, so I'll take the picture in daylight after I've worked some more today.

On Nov 12, I went to a bead meetup, and reworked the necklace that I'm making for my Mom, and stitched some snowflake earrings from a hank that we found when we went to a bead show a couple of weeks ago.

My twins had their birthday party on 29 October, so I spent most of the time leading up to it cleaning and otherwise preparing (I had a big church celebration too), and in the remaining days of October, we were getting ready for Halloween. But here's what I did do.

Day 27

I baked and crumb-coated a cake (but forgot to take a pic) and gathered some herbs from my garden to dry (I suppose that is herb-crafting?).

20171027

Day 28

I crossed stitched just a little bit on the bus home from a marriage celebration.

20171028

Day 29

Finished frosting the cake (yellow chocolate chip with vanilla frosting and blueberries on top), I baked a pineapple-cherry cobbler, and a pan of brownies.

20171029

Days 30-31

Cross stitched a bit more on the Mystery Stitchalong. But alas, I did not finish. I'll keep plugging along.

I really, really would like to finish this before NaCraMaMo ends, but I think I would need 36 hours in a day.

Days 23 and 24

Days 25 and 26

I almost didn't do anything today, because I'm tired and it's been hotter than I like (especially for this late in October) and I'm at the coughing stage of this thrice-damned cold (I don't feel too bad otherwise, but the coughing *hurts*)and I am frantically cleaning for a party on Sunday, but I wanted to be able to say that I'm done with the green in the border (I think... so parenthetical when I'm tired!).

Day 16 - I looked through the week 7 packet of the Mystery Stitchalong to decide on how to finish the project. There are 16(!)charted finishes, plus 3 different bottom borders, plus a charted alphabet if you wanted to design your own finish. The finishes are all related to one fandom or another. I have at least *some* passing acquaintance with about six or so of the fandoms; most of the others I might have heard of in passing or I had to look up. Only two I thought I was enough of a fan of to choose, and one of those, I Just Couldn't. I'm probably going to bounce around it in to keep you all in some suspense, unless you cheat and look it up. :)

Day 17 - I actually started stitching week 7 of the Mystery Stitchalong, but got so few stitches in that I didn't take a picture.

Day 18 - Hey, I actually made some progress on the Stitchalong!

I find it hard to bead at home, with my kids always wanting to be in it with me, and beads being prone to scattering everywhere. Once a month, I attend a bead meetup, and I get to bead! My mom found a kit, and wanted me to make it up for her. She gave me some loose parameters and trusted me for the rest. I added some bigger glass pearls from my stash. This is what I came up with:

I showed my mom a picture, and she decided that she wanted some bee and lady bug matching earrings. So I need to take apart that first strand to get the bugs, and put it back together.

I finished off the latch hook decor!

For the flower latch hook, the canvas was about the right size, so I trimmed just the outside of the frame with the fabric.

Back in May 2016, I did a 30for30crafting challenge (craft 30 minutes a day for 30 days), and as part of that challenge (which I documented on Tumblr and in LJ's [livejournal.com profile] nacramamo), I designed (except for the flower; that was a kit) and hooked some latch hook decor for my kids.

I went so far as to buy some canvas frames to mount them on, and then they sat. I unearthed them in the newest Great Office Unfucking. In the last week of September, I even got the biggest ones glued onto their frames.

20171012a

And then they sat again, because I've been focused on the Stitchalong. They've been underfoot waiting for a chance to be finished.... and today, I finished framing the ladybug! The canvas frames I found weren't quite the right size (too large), so I found some cloth to cover up the edges.

I'm going to try and finish the other two this weekend.

My mom is a very frequent customer at a ceramic painting place (she says it's cheaper than therapy), and they were having a Halloween painting party. So, she invited me and my daughters to come and paint things for Halloween. And bonus, she got to see grandchildren.

I painted a little scarecrow!

F painted an owl plate, and K painted a bat with jack 'o lantern.

The colors will be deeper and brighter once the pieces have been glazed and fired.

I finished the (long overdue) Week 5 of the Mystery Steotchalong! It included some missed stitches from week 4.

I stitched a bunch more teeny sections of 3-8 stitches last night while bouncing home on the bus from a birthday dinner.

I was FINALLY able to sit down tonight with the current cross stitch and stitched a bunch of 3-8 stitch sections. Not my most favorite thing to do in cross stitch.

Between being busier than usual and a bad pain day, about all I could manage for day two was folding and organizing a bunch of fabric scraps my mom gave me for my collages.

I've been working on this Mystery stitchalong. It started at the beginning of July and was supposed to be done by the middle of August. I was almost keeping up with the timeline, until at the end of the fourth week. I discovered that I had put in a three sections one stitch off. Ugh. Then I got caught up with kids' things and the beginning of school, and I finally got back to it, and finished week 4 last week.

I've slowly been working on week 5. I got this far yesterday:

20170930

And Then I discovered that two of the letters were off by one column, ugh! Today's project was to frog all the mistake and put it back in properly.

(OMG, does my phone camera take crappy low light pictures.)

I was (still am) a maintainer over on nacramamo over on LJ. I have been little on LJ since their new TOS took effect. The LJ community nacramamo seems deserted. But since October is tomorrow (in my neck of the world, anyway), and I have truly loved the challenge of crafting every day in October, I decided to create a nacramamo community on DW. I might be the only poster, but we'll see how it goes.

If you decide to join me in this October challenge, please post an introduction - who you are, what crafting you like to do, and what crafting you think you'll do this October.

Please use tags! I'll try to seed the tags, but if you don't see a relevant tag, create your own.

Have fun!
