Day 26

It was a long day with my mom in the ER (she's mostly OK, but having new and intense arthritic pain that caused falls), so for something easy, I started a new baby hat that evening and knitted 10 rows.

Day 27

Another longish day (one of my kids got confirmed, so it was hours without my feet up, then an afternoon of chores); I finished the hat I started on Saturday. Thankfully, that was the end of that yarn cake (I was getting tired of the pink), so when I knit the next hat, I'll find another color.

Day 28

Today was pretty much a rest day, except for some emergency laundry for the kid who is going to be at a competition for the rest of the week. I wanted to do something OTHER than a hat, so I visited my favorite loom knitting site looking for something quick and easy, and found this pattern. Mine is a little wonky looking, and there's lots I can do different to make it look better (starting with the yarn), but it's not bad for the first one.

Day 26

Another Wednesday, and some more work on the SaL cross stitch at the stitch-in
20221026

Day 27

I had a doc appointment to look at my knee, and it was an ORDEAL, and once I got home, I simply could not get motivated enough to work on any of my projects. :(

Day 28

Day 29

Even MORE SaL

Day 30

I altered F's Halloween costume: it was way too long, and showed a bit more of her than she liked, so I spent 3 HOURS doing alterations. I hate that kind of sewing. Shown is the bit I took in at a shoulder; I also had to put in a 4 inch hem on trailing hemline, and it was... frustrating.

Day 31

Does costume makeup count? I say it does! And I did F's Cruella makeup TWICE!

It's been a really sucky week. But I did something crafty every day, even if I didn't create.

Day 26

I worked some more on moving stuff around and putting things away.

Day 27

I worked some more at getting things reorganized and put away, and I even took a picture!

Where I started on Monday:

Where I ended on Tuesday:

I also did some latch hooking (first pic is what I had done previously)

Day 28

I tackled the first batch of jewelry supplies! This is my last online order, so it's been sitting in that box for MONTHS. (Last summer, I put a moratorium on bringing in any more crafting supplies (with an exception or two) until I could find all the things I already had.) I got about half the box put away into storage boxes.

20201028a 20201028b

I also had a stitch-in, where I got only a little bit of cross stitching on my SaL done, because there was a guest speaker, and she had pretty things to show!

Day 29

I finished getting all the beads from the box I started on 10/28 put away into storage boxes!

20201029a

And then, I got all the storage boxes put away onto the shelves!

Day 30

Day 30 was a day of prodding kids a lot and just feeling entirely unmotivated. Things got a better once we got around to pumpkin carving, so after dinner, I settled in with TrollHunters and my latch hook. Unfortunately, after I had put in about another half-dozen columns, I discovered that I had put in the wrong color of pink, so I spent more than 30 minutes frogging. Frogging latch hook is a lot more difficult than frogging cross stitch!

I'm behind on posting, but I'll try to make up for it. It's just been another biz biz week. Today I sat down with my knitting machine in the evening. Every fibre artist knows the pain of frogging and unravelling and I was so mad at myself for having to undo 130 stitches. I made one row too many. For the sake of striping, I couldn't get it go :D

The trouble with undoing stitches on a knitting machine is that you have to put the previous stitch back on the needle. Things you don't want to do 130 times ;-D

The steel needles are also sharp and somehow I dragged my pinkie across the hooks. Now my knitting machine has a taste for blood! Great!

Ah well...no pain, no gain.

The last week of October was very busy! Knitting was the only thing I could cram in after work. I'm on the fourth ball of Copenhagen yarn for my shawl but it has felt slow going. Somehow I hurt my thumb and it's kind of a necessary component :D I'll share pix when it's done. Hard to believe we're into November!

Day 28

I started to attach the gold cloth to the top of K's costume. I had NOTHING but problems: curling, bunching, thread breaking, and the bottom of the shirt disintegrating under the stitching. After a frustrating 90 minutes, I stopped and went on to more pleasant activities, like folding laundry.

Day 29

I assessed the gold trim again; I changed the sewing machine needle (I had been using the wrong kind), and changed the thread, but nothing worked, and my skills were not up to trying to make it work and get finished in 3 days. I admitted defeat, and informed K, who wailed and wailed. I promised her we would work on it again starting in January, and have it ready for our local SF convention in May. (And in the meantime, I'll get my machine serviced, because tension was part of the problem, and find a substitute for the gold fabric that isn't as finicky.)

IMG_20191029_181446

(I took K to a thrift store after school on Wed, and we were able to find her a suitable beautiful costume.)

Day 30

Since I hadn't put my sewing machine away yet, GB asked me to repair the stitching on the waistband of his pants (no picture).

Day 31

The clutter in my office/craft storage space had become overwhelming, and I needed to get things sorted in there so at least I wasn't tripping and slipping and having things fall on my head.

Before

After
IMG_20191031_162609 IMG_20191031_162650

And, after returning home from the sugar mugging, I sat down and worked on my cross stitch until I ran out of thread in the needle.

Day 28: the day of the big twins' birthday party. My lack of RSVPs fortunately was reflected in the attendance; I don't know what I would have done cake wise if 40 more people showed up. As it was, I frosted 3 cakes, which was the extent of my crafting for the day (no pictures).

Day 29: I did find some time to work on the Steotchalong:

20181029

Note that the one on the bottom right I started to put in wrong...

Day 30: I needed to get caught up with a bunch of household things that got dumped when I was in so much pain (yes, it's *finally* better!), so the only crafty thing I got done was figuring out how to make the heads of the costumes that my mom made for my kids stand up straighter (and it's still not quite solved, as seen in the pic).

20181030

Day 31: After dealing with kids' school things all day, I admitted that I was utterly exhausted, and sent the kids out with their dads for trick-or-treating. I spent that blissfully quiet hour actually finishing week two of the Steotchalong!

I can't remember which day I did what; I know there was one day that the only thing I did was remove rows from my bracelet. I think the other days I worked on 99, and on one day I also worked on my beading loom.

I did finally finish my bracelet (Stained Glass bracelet by Beadholden Designs); it might still be a little long, but it won't fall off my wrist.

I also restarted my bead loom project (a modified version of Boxed In by Beadholden Designs); I'm enjoying it more and I hope I'm doing better the second time around.

I made some progress on 99 by Ink Circles as well.

My twins had their birthday party on 29 October, so I spent most of the time leading up to it cleaning and otherwise preparing (I had a big church celebration too), and in the remaining days of October, we were getting ready for Halloween. But here's what I did do.

Day 27

I baked and crumb-coated a cake (but forgot to take a pic) and gathered some herbs from my garden to dry (I suppose that is herb-crafting?).

20171027

Day 28

I crossed stitched just a little bit on the bus home from a marriage celebration.

20171028

Day 29

Finished frosting the cake (yellow chocolate chip with vanilla frosting and blueberries on top), I baked a pineapple-cherry cobbler, and a pan of brownies.

20171029

Days 30-31

Cross stitched a bit more on the Mystery Stitchalong. But alas, I did not finish. I'll keep plugging along.
