I'm trying to finish up unfinished projects around here (hee!) and one that has been sitting around for a while is a Klämmemacka box from IKEA. I found some brown paint and craft varnish in the stash and have been painting it and varnishing it. It's a long process waiting for coats to dry. I also lost one of the dividers over the years.

If you attempt this project, or plan on buying one, my tip is to give it a light sanding first. I wish I had done this before painting. The little bits of wood get caught in the paint.

It's not been my best week ever, but I got little bits done.

Day 10

6 more rows on a new pink baby hat (I generally knit through a whole cake of yarn at a time, and this pink one is HUGE, which is why you're seeing so much pink)

Day 11

During our family screen break time, I knitted 14 rows on the baby hat, and finished it off.

Day 12

I had a stitch-in today only instead of stitching, I wound more yarn for washing. (The center skein is an absolutely gorgeous purple that my phone camera refuses to render correctly.)

During this day's screen break, once I got done with some chores, I wound 6 stems of faux flowers with floral tape to prep them for my wreath.

I did mention that things are crazy, right? I managed to plug along on the cross stitch anyway.

I forgot to take a picture on day 11, so you get a picture of days 11 and 12

Day 15
There really wasn't a day 15. I had a bunch of dental work done, and was pretty zonked on pain killers, so I couldn't focus.

Day 12

I wasn't really feeling like doing anything, so I went looking for a latch hook project that I had recently started, because I'm usually able to do latch hook when I'm incapable of doing anything else. I found the yarn, but not the canvas. While I was looking for the canvas, I found a bag of floss (like I knew I would). I got the floss sorted, entered into the spreadsheet, and put away into the appropriate floss box. SO EASY now. Unfortunately, there were a lot of duplicates. Hopefully, the new system will keep me from buying duplicates again.

Day 13

A busy day with kid school wrangling. In between all the denial, I wiped out a DMC box, found all of my embroidery fabric (mostly Aida), and put it into the box drawers. While I was wiping out the drawers, I found a skein of floss hidden underneath one drawer. It was even one I didn't have!

20201013

Alas, the drawers are not quite long enough for the tubes to fit properly. However, this will do for now.

I'm having some Not-Productive-Enough-itis, and as a result, I procrastinate.

Day 12

Some work on the #MadXStitchalong

20191012

Days 13 and 14

For two consecutive days I got some free time alone (meaning without kids) with my mom. So we went to one of her favorite places to paint ceramics on both days. I'm working on a large bowl. On Day 13, I got the second and third coats of the colors on the bowl. On day 14, I put the first coat of the black lines on the bowl. (I forgot to take progress pictures.)

20191013-14

Day 15

Worked a bit more on the #MadXStitchalong; there was a patch I had to frog, or there would be more done.

Although it looks like I skipped some days, I was productive! I started making larger rocking horse ornaments. The trouble is that they were more work than I anticipated.

I designed the cutting file years ago, so it was easy to cut them out on Pazzles die cutting machine. It's like a Cricut.

I made a sample one (which my Mom bought, thanks Mom!) but it looked quite plain. I needed a way to jazz it up without too much mess or pain. I wanted to use glitter but....mess and pain. Fortunately there was a bottle of gold Elmer's glitter glue in the stash and I tried outlining the hooves and saddle with it. Plus, I discovered that the glue part dries clear, which made it great for painting the rockers.

Alas glitter glue doesn't dry as fast as you would like it! It was easy to mess things up or have pieces accidentally stick together. I decided to make only as many horses as I had cut rockers for. I'm still assembling them. Stay tuned for the whole herd!

This past week has been really busy, and I've managed only a little time daily on the kiwi, and nearly all of it has been confetti stitches, and I thought it kind of boring to take individual pics of so little, so you get nearly a week's worth in one picture.

Tomorrow, I'm having a root canal, and I asked for sedation this time, so I don't know if I'll get any crafting done. Wish me luck!

On the 11th, I didn't do anything crafty; the other people in my house came back from vacation and I got distracted.

Yesterday (day 12), I worked on 99 a tiny bit; the shelf is two rows and I'm close to finished with the first one. I just need to sit down and do it instead of letting myself be distracted by other shinier things.

On days 7-10, I worked mostly on my Christmas card; I have the ornaments finished and only have the curls and the backstitching left to do; I don't know why they have the curls so close to the fabric color (in the picture from the kit, there's more of a contrast):

On day 12 I worked on a temperature bookmark, where you do a bit for each day with a color representing the high temperature. I did most of the orange stitches yesterday; I'm into June and it was warm. I already have the color for the highest high in there even though the high for the year was in July (DMC 3705, representing 94-97). I'm tempted to do a similar one for the low temperatures. I have more information about it at the bottom of a blog post from when I started it.

This isn't really a craft, but it's something that I did one day:

Nanoblocks Streets of Gion

I'm very tempted to start the current free project from Blackwork Journey if I have suitable fabric; it's only a little each month and wouldn't keep me away from other projects too much.

I had to make an apology card for the nice lady that comes and trims my birds nails. My cockatiel bit her last time and drew blood. When the card is folded, he looks super sad/sorry/ashamed and it was closed with a strip of paper that said "Sorry" on it :D

Only I have to make an apology card for my cockatiel's behaviour :D Muffin bit the nice lady that comes and trims his nails on the last visit!

I only worked on 99 the last three days. On the 11th, I replaced the wrong gray with the right one in the first two rows. On the 12th, I replaced the gray in the third row (only the bottom of the next to last bottle, thankfully) finished the next to the last bottle, and did everything but the outline and the white on the last bottle. On the 13th, I finished the last bottle.

I meant to do more last night, but I got distracted by doing my nails (which probably doesn't count as crafting).
