Day 26

It was a long day with my mom in the ER (she's mostly OK, but having new and intense arthritic pain that caused falls), so for something easy, I started a new baby hat that evening and knitted 10 rows.

Day 27

Another longish day (one of my kids got confirmed, so it was hours without my feet up, then an afternoon of chores); I finished the hat I started on Saturday. Thankfully, that was the end of that yarn cake (I was getting tired of the pink), so when I knit the next hat, I'll find another color.

Day 28

Today was pretty much a rest day, except for some emergency laundry for the kid who is going to be at a competition for the rest of the week. I wanted to do something OTHER than a hat, so I visited my favorite loom knitting site looking for something quick and easy, and found this pattern. Mine is a little wonky looking, and there's lots I can do different to make it look better (starting with the yarn), but it's not bad for the first one.

But I do know I was putting the finishing touches on them yesterday!

My neighbours and I put on a community Halloween party and I had the great idea of making selfie signs. We did buy some selfie prop masks from the dollar store, but the kids ran off with them, LOL!

I bought Halloween window clings from the dollar store but didn't realize they were window clings, doh! I simply cut around them and glued them onto the white sign. Same for the orange sign. The orange sign lost its witch and the white sign is a little beat up, but they did the job :-) It was so fun, although a lot of work, to put the party on. About 100 people showed up and we had no idea how many or what ages. At least all the treats went :-)

Day 26

Another Wednesday, and some more work on the SaL cross stitch at the stitch-in
20221026

Day 27

I had a doc appointment to look at my knee, and it was an ORDEAL, and once I got home, I simply could not get motivated enough to work on any of my projects. :(

Day 28

More SaL cross stitch

Day 29

Even MORE SaL

Day 30

I altered F's Halloween costume: it was way too long, and showed a bit more of her than she liked, so I spent 3 HOURS doing alterations. I hate that kind of sewing. Shown is the bit I took in at a shoulder; I also had to put in a 4 inch hem on trailing hemline, and it was... frustrating.

Day 31

Does costume makeup count? I say it does! And I did F's Cruella makeup TWICE!

Sunday we carved pumpkins, mine didn't turn out the way I wanted, but it doesn't look terrible.

Yesterday I painted an old shoe organizer that we had planned to turn into a kind of bench for Halloween decorations. Didn't make it into a bench, but it holds our pumpkins pretty well. I painted it black, but the spray paint I used gave it more of a black/gray patchy look. I left all the dirt and cobwebs on it to give it more of an old feel. I think it turned out better than I anticipated. Unfortunately I ran out of paint, so one side is solid black, but we won't talk about that lol.

Today I finished painting the real estate sign for the haunted house. I still have to glue all the pieces together, but I think it turned out pretty well. Its hard to write with paint and a toothpick.

It's been a really sucky week. But I did something crafty every day, even if I didn't create.

Day 26

I worked some more on moving stuff around and putting things away.

Day 27

I worked some more at getting things reorganized and put away, and I even took a picture!

Where I started on Monday:

Where I ended on Tuesday:

20201027-after

I also did some latch hooking (first pic is what I had done previously)

Day 28

I tackled the first batch of jewelry supplies! This is my last online order, so it's been sitting in that box for MONTHS. (Last summer, I put a moratorium on bringing in any more crafting supplies (with an exception or two) until I could find all the things I already had.) I got about half the box put away into storage boxes.

20201028a 20201028b

I also had a stitch-in, where I got only a little bit of cross stitching on my SaL done, because there was a guest speaker, and she had pretty things to show!

Day 29

I finished getting all the beads from the box I started on 10/28 put away into storage boxes!

20201029a

And then, I got all the storage boxes put away onto the shelves!

Day 30

Day 30 was a day of prodding kids a lot and just feeling entirely unmotivated. Things got a better once we got around to pumpkin carving, so after dinner, I settled in with TrollHunters and my latch hook. Unfortunately, after I had put in about another half-dozen columns, I discovered that I had put in the wrong color of pink, so I spent more than 30 minutes frogging. Frogging latch hook is a lot more difficult than frogging cross stitch!

I think I hate the posting part of this challenge, if I'm being honest...

Day 22

I mostly played catch-up with household stuff, and didn't do any arting or crafting.

Day 23

I put back in the section in the cross stitch that I had to frog on Monday.

20191023

Day 24

Hey, some more cross stitch!

20191024

Day 25

My local Joann store moved, and had a grand opening sale. I picked up some Halloween-themed beads (like I really needed MORE beads!) and made some Mother/Daughter earrings!

20191025

Day 26

A HUGE crafting day today!

I baked and crumb-coated a cake for the birthday party...

20191026a 20191026b

And then I started to deal with the costume for K. K had sworn up and down that she'd help, but hasn't wanted to for the past two weeks. I finally got out the material anyway, and she stayed with me for about 10 minutes, before deciding that this was all boring and went back to watch tv. I suppose it's typical for an 8 year old, but I was, and am still, annoyed. I got a long-sleeved shirt from last year to build the costume on, cut a few things on it, ironed on an embellishment, and cut a bunch of yellow strips of material (of which I think I am eventually going to hate dealing with).

Day 27

Unfortunately, F came home sick with a fever from her lesson on Saturday. We waited until the morning to see how she was, and she still had a fever, so we had to postpone the kids' birthday party. That gave me a bit more time to redesign K's costume in my head about a dozen times before deciding that even though the costume looks like a dress in the pictures, I do not have the required skills to make it a dress in reality. So I'm making it a top and skirt. K was pissy when I wanted to do some sizing stuff, and I almost gave up on making this for her. She also wanted to help again and but only stayed about 5 minutes when it became very clear that I wasn't going to let her run the sewing machine by herself. So I finally got the base skirt sewn, except I didn't leave a hole in the casing for elastic, and that's when I knew I needed to stop.

My crafty friend and I got together yesterday and it was awesome. We tried heat embossing and did some cardmaking. I had tried embossing before with little success, but we took turns. I would wager my problem was static. My province is incredibly dry (I didn't experience humidity until I went to the southern US in my early 20s :-D). We ended up using a glass dish instead of a plastic try and had much better results.

The only embossing powder I had on hand was red and green glitter embossing powder. I'm going to buy the regular stuff and see if that works better. Even the parts not stuck to Versamark ended up bonding with the paper. At least by the end of our tries we had improved!

Still fighting stupid tooth pain. And making cakes for the party Sunday. And counting wrong, because I had to frog the orange twirly on the bottom right and restitch. And I forgot to take any pictures yesterday, so you only get the one.

On all of the days but the 26th, I worked on 99 a little.

1022-27-99

I uncrafted on the 26th; I bought a bead loom last month and had a few rows done on it. I had some issues getting things right, and on the 26th, I took all the beads off so that I could start over.

I really, really would like to finish this before NaCraMaMo ends, but I think I would need 36 hours in a day.

Days 23 and 24

Days 25 and 26

20171025 20171026

I almost didn't do anything today, because I'm tired and it's been hotter than I like (especially for this late in October) and I'm at the coughing stage of this thrice-damned cold (I don't feel too bad otherwise, but the coughing *hurts*)and I am frantically cleaning for a party on Sunday, but I wanted to be able to say that I'm done with the green in the border (I think... so parenthetical when I'm tired!).
