Day 6 and 7
Oct. 8th, 2024 10:25 amI spent these two days trying to adapt this pattern for a knitting loom to my knitting machine:

I ended up with a very long piece of material that isn't big enough for an adult head :-D Adapting patterns can be tricky, but I'll frog and go back to the knitting loom :-)

Days 4, 5, 6
Oct. 6th, 2021 05:26 pmThe days are toooooo busy. And, if you've followed my history here at all, I'm doing well if I manage to post every-other day.
Day 4
We had a birthday in the house, so I made a huge birthday dinner, including dessert, which took about three hours, and really precluded doing any other crafting, but dessert is crafting, so here's a picture of birthday pear-blueberrry cobbler.

Day 5
Back to the cross stitch

Day 6
I made time for my weekly Wednesday stitch-in, and managed to stitch about 125 stitches in 2 hours!

I decided to put up our Halloween decorations early this year, so we put up the outdoor ones over the weekend and I put up the indoor ones this morning. That also means I need to get cracking on finishing my haunted house! I spraypainted it black and purple a few weeks ago, but started doing the details today.

And if anyone has any ideas on what to do with the front door, I would love to hear them! I thought about painting the arch, but I'm worried too much gray would make it too light. I'm thinking I might just paint the doorbell to make it stand out. I'm just not sure what to do!
Here's a close up of the door.

Day 6 - Pattern Homework
Oct. 8th, 2020 09:44 amWe had to make three patterns from a list of pattern types and I chose geometric. It was surprisingly hard to do! I made a cardstock sample with craft punches and then moved the shapes around in CorelDraw. I cut, copied, rotated and whatnot to arrive at this pattern. Adding things, removing things...it's all part of the process. I also wanted it to be more about the colour palette than the design. Here's what it looks like tiled. It reminds me of granny squares.

Days 5-9 plus 12
Oct. 14th, 2019 06:59 pmAlthough it looks like I skipped some days, I was productive! I started making larger rocking horse ornaments. The trouble is that they were more work than I anticipated.
I designed the cutting file years ago, so it was easy to cut them out on Pazzles die cutting machine. It's like a Cricut.
I made a sample one (which my Mom bought, thanks Mom!) but it looked quite plain. I needed a way to jazz it up without too much mess or pain. I wanted to use glitter but....mess and pain. Fortunately there was a bottle of gold Elmer's glitter glue in the stash and I tried outlining the hooves and saddle with it. Plus, I discovered that the glue part dries clear, which made it great for painting the rockers.
Alas glitter glue doesn't dry as fast as you would like it! It was easy to mess things up or have pieces accidentally stick together. I decided to make only as many horses as I had cut rockers for. I'm still assembling them. Stay tuned for the whole herd!

Days 6 and 7
Oct. 7th, 2019 10:43 pmTwo very full, often crazy days, where I finally got to craft in the darkness (well not quite, but you know what I mean).
Day 6

Day 7

I am so close to finishing the yarn looping on this one that I can taste it, and I may well try to finish it all up tomorrow, so that I can really get going on the #MadXStitchalong.

Introduction + Days 1-6
Oct. 7th, 2018 07:38 pmMy name is Elizabeth; I participated last year, but completely forgot about it this year. I do various sorts of needlework (mostly cross-stitch right now) and some beadwork (mostly peyote-stitch bracelets, but I recently branched out into a new sort of bracelet). I do a little something crafty most days; I started a full-time day job a couple of months ago, which limits my crafting time a little.
Days 1-3:
I finished this Cane-Back bracelet from the most recent Quick + Easy Beadwork. This was my first foray into non-peyote beadwork, and I mostly enjoyed it (I had some issues in the beginning and at the end). I had it everything except the three rows at the ends and the loop and toggle finished at the end of September and had the whole thing finished by the third.

Days 4-6:
This is 99 by Ink Circles, which I started in January 2017 and will finish someday. This is the sixth row (66 bottles). I was about a quarter into the shelf at the beginning of the month and did a little each day; I find the shelf tedious.

Day 6:
I realized that I ought to take advantage of everyone else being out of town and work on a Christmas card (I live with the recipient and mostly work on things in the evening family time). I'm going to see if I can get it finished by Wednesday evening. I had some of the lower right ornament finished in September and worked on it a bit more. I was probably around a third of the way through it when I realized it was misplaced, so it had to come out. I haven't redone as much of it as I had done at the beginning of the month.

October 6 - World Card Making Day
Oct. 6th, 2018 10:08 pmApparently today was World Cardmaking Day, so here's my contribution - I had some leftover cut up pieces of this Christmas paper from last year, tested out my new blizzard snowflake die on some Stardream paper and kind of threw things together. I feel like it still needs something, but there's definitely room to add a star maybe or a bit of green. Click for larger.

I didn't do much over the last three days; I did a few rows of beads every day, and a couple of other things on a couple of days.
I am very close to done with the beading part of this and will then have to decide how to finish it (it's Stained Glass by Beadholden Designs):

On day 6, I also finished the last bottle here on 99 by Ink Circles (30 down, 69 to go):

On day 8, I pulled out a latch hook kit called Floral D'Vine that I bought on clearance and started in 2014; I've only done two rows in the last two years. I've now done my row for this year, and might try to do a few more. I do now remember why I haven't been wanting to work on this; it's a little tedious. I do want to finish it someday.

Day 6 - Oh Lord, more cardinals!
Oct. 6th, 2017 11:43 amI woke up this morning to a raging headache and sinus pain. I'm still assembling decorations and made another two pages of cardinals. Here's a picture from my IG that shows the mask that I had to test for my Pazzles. I think the newer version of the Pazzles software includes registration marks for easier cutting registration. It's such a handy helper!
