These baby hats take me about an hour, give or take. It's my "hands need to move" project; 25 rows over 31 pegs of the same stitch. Not much braining needed!
Yes! Bright colors are much preferred where these hat are usually sent. I've done plenty of pastels too, before someone clued me in on the bright colors!
